Basically, it refers to the provision of various computing services through the internet. More simply, just like with power and water services, there are multiple services provided on demand such as servers, storage, databases, software and applications for use by the internet users. They help the company in pooling its computing resources to reduce the need for expensive hardware plus its maintenance. It enhances the standard Information Systems scope and can be implemented for faster and efficient resource management. Being new to cloud computing I kept experimenting with AWS, its like having a virtual computer at your command line! First thing I found out is you've got to start small. I signed up for the basic preview release and played around with some of the services. The greatest thing about cloud computing is how flexible it can be. I can scale resources up or down whenever I need to. Never having to manage the physical hardware itself was something that I'm glad I took the time to learn. It was definitely interesting and honestly I'm very eager to find out what will be in store for me next on this cloud journey of mine.
